From October 19th through the 22nd, 15 HR professionals received combined certification training that applied Marshall Goldsmith’s key coaching concepts to the HR profession. Instructors were Frank Wagner, Kimberly Gonsalves and Jathan Janove. Frank and Kimberly provided traditional MGSCC instruction while Jathan brought it specifically into the HR world.
Topics included:
- How to shift from “Compliance Cop” to “Culture Coach”
- Effective listening skills for the HR professional
- Identifying and assessing options
- Investigating and solving workplace problems
- Documentation as a form of communication
- Developing and implementing a successful Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) program
- Former Ford Motor Corp. CEO Alan Mulally’s observations on HR leadership (which you can read here.)
Attendee comments included:
“This program provided practical and useful tools that I was able to use immediately in my HR practice. These tools will help HR professionals avoid costly mistakes and the HR professional will be able to demonstrate high levels of competency to senior leaders in any organization.”
“The coaching system learned in this program can, and should be, a key component of any human capital strategy. I have taken my learnings from this program and will implement the coaching system in succession planning and leadership development as well as providing valuable individual coaching to our leaders.
“In my three decades of HR practice, this program stands out as most useful in improving my own performance and value to the organization. For the HR professional who desires to demonstrate the transformational capabilities of HR, I highly recommend this course.”

PS! Job Opportunities!
Two wonderful clients of mine are creating new positions in HR.
Position One: Transformative CHRO
A food manufacturer located near Orlando FL that does $150 million per year in revenue and has 800+ employees is creating a CHRO position.
Through its foundation, this company gives 50% of its profits to non-profit organizations. As a result, millions of dollars have been and are being granted annually to engage, equip and empower disadvantaged women and children in their community, our nation and throughout the world.
A new CEO committed to creating a great workplace culture where “boss” means “coach and mentor” (think Alan Mulally and Doug Conant) is looking for an CHRO partner who will support and lead him to establish the new culture.
Position Two: HR “Moneyball” Analyst
$1b Salt Lake City based product-subscription company is looking for a data-driven HR partner to work with the CHRO and establish and analyze metrics to optimize the workforce and overall efficiency of the company. They are thinking of this role as bringing a little “Moneyball Magic” to their business. This highly successful and growing company is open to remote work.
If you know of anyone who might be interested and qualified for either position, please let me know.
I’d appreciate you forwarding this to anyone in your network who might have an interest or know someone who does.
I can personally attest that whoever is hired in each position will be working for a highly successful company both economically and in terms of employee engagement. Both companies have certified MGSCC coaches in their HR departments.
